strange coincidence?

so i just wanted to share something about this tv show that i watched recently...
my dad came home the other night and told my sister and i that we had to watch this particular episode (the christmas episode) of the tv show Last Man Standing.  now i've never watched the show before, but i've seen commercials so i thought why not, it seems like a funny show.  well, it turns out that not only does this show strangely resemble my family (with the exception that there is no brother in the family and i have a brother), but this particular episode is almost creepily identical to my family/our life.  now of course its not going to match up in every way, but it is shocking how many things that my family and this show have in common.  after watching the show i thought to myself, "was it just by coincidence that my dad happen to stumble upon this show, that has soooo many similarities to our family?"

if you know me, my situation, and my family well enough then you should be able to pick them out.  i'll point out some similarities for you/explain them after the jump...

heres the episode that my sister and i watched:
Last Man Standing: "Last Christmas Standing"

here are some of the ones that my sister and i found:

theses are similarities that i found within the show itself:
- there are three daughters in the family...there are three daughters in my family (i have a younger brother as well which is different)
- the oldest daughter: has a son...i am 9 months pregnant with a son
- the middle sister: is very in to her appearance and sometimes says dumb or silly things...my sister kelsey (the middle sister) loves to shop, has a lot of friends, and doesn't always think before she says something
- the youngest sister: is very opinionated and doesn't really have a filter on her mouth, plus she likes to rile up her other sisters...that is my sister kirsten all the way. she'll tell you like it is and doesn't have a problem expressing herself.  she's a little nosy sometimes and likes to instigate harmless drama
- the mom: likes to be a peacemaker and says funny things that i could definitely hear my mom saying
- the dad: is the boss in his company and he has to deal with the antics of his three daughters, plus he is very sarcastic...my dad owns his own company and constantly has to deal with the drama that my sisters and i have and he so happens to be one to the most sarcastic, funny people i know.

this is the one MAJOR similarity that i found particular to the christmas episode:
- the oldest daughter's ex / the father of her son: his name is ryan, he deserted kristen (the oldest daughter) and his son, mike (the dad) makes a comment about his smile "working on the ladies", he likes to push mike's (the dad) buttons, he calls mike by his first name, doesn't really do much to support himself (besides his job as a jouster)...my ex-boyfriend / the father of my son's name is ryan, i haven't heard from him since june after we broke up, he is definitely a "charmer" when it comes to girls, my dad really hates him (pretty much didn't like him from the beginning), he always called my dad by his first name (which i always thought was disrespectful), and he hasn't had a "real" job (i don't know if he ever got a job because i haven't heard from him).

all in all it was very interesting to watch this show and see all the weird similarities.  i thought the show was funny, yet had a nice message to it (although i don't think my family, my self included, is as willing to forgive as the family in the show was).  another funny little tidbit is that the ex-boyfriend was played by nick jonas, who i had a celebrity crush on in high school haha. i'd like to see what other strange similarities i can find in the show so, Last Man Standing is a show that i'll definitely be watching from now on! :)
